MUSICAL THEATRE YOUNG ARTIST OF THE YEAR 2021
A full Assembly Room at Devizes Town Hall on Saturday, 4 December 2021 witnessed the staging of the first Musical Theatre Young Artist of the Year Competition, generously sponsored by Wansbroughs Solicitors.
The competition was won by 17 year-old Isabella Lane from Devizes School, with her performance of I’ll be Here from Adam Gwon’s musical Ordinary Days. The three runners-up were Daisy Miles, Joshua Conboy and Lisa Grime.
The presentations were made by Councillor Christine Gay, Mayor of Devizes and Mr Tim Prees, partner at Wansbroughs.The adjudicator was Sarah Jefferies.
The winner received the Musical Theatre Young Artist of the Year Trophy and a prize for £250. The runners-up received prizes of £50.
RULES
To be eligible for entry competitors must either reside in Wiltshire, go to school or college within the county or receive musical theatre lessons within the county.
Each competitor may perform for up to 10 minutes, either one piece which may or may not have been performed in the 2021 Eisteddfod.
Competitors may provide their own accompanist or make use of one of the Eisteddfod Official Accompanists (see Syllabus page 7).
Entry is by invitation only and competitors must have performed in the 2021 Eisteddfod to qualify for entry. Those invited to take part must have given Distinction or Outstanding category performances in this year’s event.
